Refugee Care Response
3 Ways to Engage:
1. Give donations through McBIC (we will provide a collection bin at MCC)
Here is our signup list. This is the main list that we use. This has the generic items that we are collecting for all the families.
Here is our Amazon list. This list doesn't always have items on it, but we use it when there is a specific need for one family that doesn't make sense for other families.
2. Friendship Partnership through McBIC
Friendship partners help integrate our new neighbors into the community in an informal way. You’ll have the opportunity to tag along for an initial visit as a way to make an introduction then from there build out a relationship. Interested in becoming a friendship partner with a refugee family - email Cheryl Hock. Cheryl Hock can direct you through the volunteer application process.
3. Medical Transportation through the Meeting House Dillsburg
The Meeting House Dillsburg has partnered with Church World Service (CWS)—the agency overseeing refugee resettlement in our area—to provide transportation for medical visits for 800 refugees in the capital region.
If you're interested and available during weekday business hours, please follow these steps to get involved:
You will need to complete this volunteer application. before driving. CWS requires everyone to fill out this form first—it only takes a few minutes. Don’t be confused by the Lancaster references; simply select “Harrisburg” when asked which office you are working with. Normally, CWS has a more extensive background process, but due to the current crisis, this form is the only requirement before you can begin driving.
Next, email Pastor Steve with the following information: your name, email, and phone number, AND confirm that you have completed the application form. After that, I will connect with Pastor Dave Downey at The Meeting House, who will add you to their communication list. Once you're added, you’ll gain access to our spreadsheet to sign up and get involved. Additional details about the process will be sent to you once your information is received.

Uncovered: Finding God in Your Story
Register for our upcoming Women's Retreat on February 28th and March 1st. Our theme this year is “Uncovered: Finding God in Your Story.”
You have a beautiful story worth sharing, and we'd love for you to join us for a weekend of reflection, renewal, and encouragement. Together, we’ll uncover the unique story God has given each of us for such a time as this. Even in the midst of life’s challenges, God is working in powerful ways. Our hope is that you will leave this retreat refreshed, inspired, and emboldened to share your story of grace—a story that reveals His goodness and faithfulness. Come, connect with other MCC Ladies, be encouraged, and uncover the story God is writing in your life. We can't wait to spend this time with you!
This year our retreat is back at Silver Spring Retreat Center (404 Silver Spring Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050). Join us Friday, February 28th at 6pm through Saturday, March 1st at 8pm (or anywhere in between). Bring a snack to share Friday evening. Three meals will be served on Saturday. Downtown Mechanicsburg Community Dinner
Three times per year we partner with 7 other Mechanicsburg area churches to share a meal and the light of Jesus with our neighbors. More than a meal it's an opportunity to offer belonging to our neighbors who may not have a church family to call home. Click here to sign up to volunteer. Whether you want to help set up, serve food or do the crucial work of building some authentic relationships by being a table host, we'd love to partner with you.
