Discover MCC

Sunday, April 27 , 2025 at 12:00 p.m.

So you think this might be your church! I get it, that’s no small thing. When it comes down to it we see this as more than membership to a private club with membership benefits. We are about partnership. MCC wants to both invite you to invest in our church's mission and partner with you and your family in what God's called you to. We want to invest in you and we want to partner with families in seeing Christ’s kingdom come to Mechanicsburg and the surrounding area. If you are interested in partnering with MCC please sign up for Discover MCC.

Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday

About a decade ago now, in a little cinder block church on the main drag of town I was a part of something I'd never experienced before. Miles from home and in the midst of a spiritual renaissance in my own journey I was open to new expressions of worship. Huddled in the basement of that church building the men gathered together in one room while the women were down the hall. We prayed, shared and then did something totally foreign to my 21st century world - we washed eachother's feet. A simple act of humble service. Physically lowering oneself to meet another's need. Weird, sure. But worshipful in a whole new dimension than singing God's goodness with my lips. I was sold, the simple ritual of humble service had become near and dear to my heart.

One of our sister churches, Grantham BIC, is hosting a Maundy Thursday service with a meal, foot washing and communion [don't worry there's hand washing in between the foot part and the communion part]

This is a great opportunity to keep the season of Easter in ways that deepen the celebration of Easter Sunday. If you're interested sign up here so Grantham's team can know how many people are coming.

Refugee Care Response
Feb

to Mar 31

Refugee Care Response

3 Ways to Engage:

1. Give donations through McBIC (we will provide a collection bin at MCC)

  • Here is our signup list. This is the main list that we use. This has the generic items that we are collecting for all the families.

  • Here is our Amazon list. This list doesn't always have items on it, but we use it when there is a specific need for one family that doesn't make sense for other families.

2. Friendship Partnership through McBIC

  • Friendship partners help integrate our new neighbors into the community in an informal way. You’ll have the opportunity to tag along for an initial visit as a way to make an introduction then from there build out a relationship. Interested in becoming a friendship partner with a refugee family - email Cheryl Hock. Cheryl Hock can direct you through the volunteer application process.

3. Medical Transportation through the Meeting House Dillsburg

  • The Meeting House Dillsburg has partnered with Church World Service (CWS)—the agency overseeing refugee resettlement in our area—to provide transportation for medical visits for 800 refugees in the capital region.

If you're interested and available during weekday business hours, please follow these steps to get involved:

  1. You will need to complete  this volunteer application. before driving. CWS requires everyone to fill out this form first—it only takes a few minutes. Don’t be confused by the Lancaster references; simply select “Harrisburg” when asked which office you are working with. Normally, CWS has a more extensive background process, but due to the current crisis, this form is the only requirement before you can begin driving.

  2. Next, email Pastor Steve with the following information: your name, email, and phone number, AND confirm that you have completed the application form. After that, I will connect with Pastor Dave Downey at The Meeting House, who will add you to their communication list. Once you're added, you’ll gain access to our spreadsheet to sign up and get involved. Additional details about the process will be sent to you once your information is received.
