At MCC we value growing in both formal and informal settings. It’s one of the reasons we intentionally don’t over program. We want to help you make space for authentic relationships to happen. At the end of the day our groups are places that foster relationships where authenticity, encouragement, and loving challenge are commonplace all with the hope that we become more like Jesus.

    Why have variety?

    • Each group shares the common goal of connecting people to Jesus and one another.
    • Each group fosters community where we become more like Jesus through relationships where authenticity, encouragement, and loving challenge are commonplace.
    • Each group creates an intentional teaching setting where people can learn the ways of Jesus.
    • Each group supports disciples of Jesus who experience and share God’s kingdom with others.
    • Each group has a slightly different focus on the spectrum between content and community
    • Each group has a slightly different social feel so that introverts and extroverts can find communities where they can thrive.
    • Each group has a different commitment level so that new believers and new people to our community as well as the old faithful can be met where they’re at
    • Each group offers a slightly different level of intimacy and spiritual accountability.

    Small Groups

    • Shares the common goal of connecting people to Jesus and one another
    • Fosters community where we become more like Jesus through relationships where authenticity, encouragement, and loving challenge are commonplace.
    • Creates an intentional teaching setting where people can learn the ways of Jesus.
    • Each group supports disciples of Jesus who experience and share God’s kingdom with others.
    • Community vs. Content Spectrum: Higher focus on community than content
    • Size: Larger group is more geared to extroverts. (8-15 people)
    • Duration: Long term. Group typically runs two/three years until it’s ready to divide to continue to thrive. 
    • Commitment Level: High commitment level to sign up for this multi year group.
    • Intimacy Level: Medium level intimacy and spiritual accountability at first growing over the course of the group.

    Learning Groups

    • Shares the common goal of connecting people to Jesus and one another
    • Fosters community where we become more like Jesus through relationships where authenticity, encouragement, and loving challenge are commonplace.
    • Creates an intentional teaching setting where people can learn the ways of Jesus.
    • Each group supports disciples of Jesus who experience and share God’s kingdom with others.
    • Community vs. Content Spectrum: Higher focus on content than community.
    • Size: Small, medium or large group size. (3-15 people)
    • Duration: Short term. Group runs 8-10 weeks. 
    • Commitment Level: Low commitment level to sign up for a short term group.
    • Intimacy Level: Low intimacy level and spiritual accountability.

    Micro-Groups

    • Shares the common goal of connecting people to Jesus and one another
    • Fosters community where we become more like Jesus through relationships where authenticity, encouragement, and loving challenge are commonplace.
    • Creates an intentional teaching setting where people can learn the ways of Jesus.
    • Each group supports disciples of Jesus who experience and share God’s kingdom with others.
    • Community vs. Content Spectrum: Higher focus on community than content.
    • Size: Small. (3-4 people)
    • Duration: Long term. Group runs 1-2 years. Until the coordinator senses the participants are ready and equipped to run their own micro group.
    • Commitment Level: High commitment level with a focus on intentionally developing disciple making disciples.
    • Intimacy Level: High intimacy level and spiritual accountability due to size and nature of the group.

    Connection Groups

    • Shares the common goal of connecting people to Jesus and one another
    • Fosters community where we become more like Jesus through relationships where authenticity, encouragement, and loving challenge are commonplace.
    • Creates an intentional teaching setting where people can learn the ways of Jesus.
    • Each group supports disciples of Jesus who experience and share God’s kingdom with others.
    • Community vs. Content Spectrum: Higher focus on community than content.
    • Size: Medium. (6-10 people)
    • Duration: Short term. Group runs 8-10 weeks.
    • Commitment Level: High commitment level with a focus on intentionally developing disciple making disciples.
    • Intimacy Level: High intimacy level and spiritual accountability due to size and nature of the group.
